Video: The full scale of Alonso and McLaren’s Indy 500 disaster

From reliability problems to track time lost because the spare car was the wrong shade of orange, McLaren’s Indianapolis 500 project with Fernando Alonso went off the rails fast.

Motorsport.com’s US editor David Malsher tells the full story of the list of disasters that led to the incredible scenes of proven Formula 1 champions Alonso and McLaren being knocked off the grid for IndyCar’s premier race by an underfunded small team and inexperienced driver in Juncos Racing and Kyle Kaiser.

Alonso’s absence won’t make Sunday’s race any less thrilling, though, and this episode of Motorsport Report also highlights the things to watch out for in what is sure to be an epic 2019 Indy 500.
